Now this is a little off topic but seeing you all talk about the 97+ 8.25 what's the diff between the 96 and the 97+ 8.25? I drive a 96 that's why I'm asking lol.

The 95/96 Axle has 27 splines, the 97+ has 29 splines and thicker axle shafts.

The switch happened mid 96, so you might have the 29 splines but when pulling a junkyard axle its easier just to look for 97+ jeeps. The only way to be sure is to pull a shaft and count splines.

Cool thanks for the info. This thread sold me on upgrading the 8.25 since I am not a hardcore wheeler just want to lock it up and go lol great thread
