Has anyone seen or done a restoration of a Jeep Cherokee back to showroom quality in bone-stock form? Ive been toying with the idea of doing this to an early 90s Laredo or Limited XJ and was wondering if it had been done.
they look soo good like that... just as long as you get one that's already in good enough condition that you don't have to spend a small fortune to get it there.

I would love to drive a pristine Laredo or limited Cherokee from the early 90s. Its so difficult to find one thats in good condition and/or not lifted and cut.
Restoring a few XJs to original is one of my objectives for the future. Im trying to round up a few now to set back to work on over the next several years. I currently have a near mint, low mile all original 1986 Laredo 4x4. The other is a really good condition 1986 Cherokee Chief 4x4. The thing I have noticed over the last many years is there are very few original XJs left. Especially the early ones. I have two more I am trying to get a hold of. One is an 86 Chief 2 door 4x4, and an 85 Pioneer 2.5 auto selec trac with the factory off road package.

Thats what i'm talking about! Please do post pictures when you get them under way.
Will do. Ive got some pictures now, but have not figured out how to upload them. Im also trying to reacquire an 87 Jeep Wagoneer Limited(XJ) I traded off a few years ago. I wish I did not let it go! It was in really good shape. 4.0, selec trac 4x4, skid plate package, and factory Dana 44 LSD. I actually had the dealer build sheet for it I found taped under the passenger door panel. My 87 Cherokee Laredo had the factory build sheet taped under the passenger door panel too. My 97 Cherokee Country is in excellent shape as well. Ive had it for 10 years, and plan to keep in all stock too. I have been into XJs since the late 90s, and they use to be some on every car lot you found. Over the past 6 to 7 years, they have been disappearing fast! Now every one you see for sale is lifted, and cut up. The problem now is they are selling so cheap, everyone is snatching the stock, original ones up, lifting them and beating the crap out of them, then they get parted or junked out. I have a feeling they will end up being as rare as an original FSJ Wagoneer/Cherokee.

Man you have a solid lineup! You hit the mark with the fact that they are going cheap and being cut up! Cant find one without cut fenders or a spray painted body around here.
.5Where do I get the rear all-red taillights? The passenger side plastic is busted on my 87 Wagoneer XJ, and I can't find one. The all-red European version is not the same. Reupholstered the seats a year back and before that replaced the vinyl on the wood panels with 3M. Have to paint her again - 3rd time - because last paint job lasted only 3 years. 305,000 miles on it and the 4L has never been opened, but the tranny has gone through two rebuilds. With 31x10.5's the speedometer reads 7 mph under GPS, and I've been clocked at 90+ on the expressway on my way to a dawn dove shoot. I refuse to lift her because she rides so great! I also have a 99 XK - I bought another one for my son who uses it every day - and an 04 WJ. None lifted and all 4L with the NP/NV 242. I also have a 98 ZJ in Texas which rides so sweet I can't get rid of it even though it is not 4x4!
I don't see myself in any other car.

I'm working thru an 01 right now. 2 wheel drive 00-01 probably have the lowest miles due to the 0331 head failures and are likely among the nicest ones you'll find since people dont typically wheel a 2 wheel drive.
