Are some ZJs taller than others?

I happened to park the 'new' '96 Laredo with 2" lift next to my '95 Limited that is supposedly bone stock, both have 31" tires, and they sit almost exactly the same, same gaps in the wheel wells, same overall height, etc. I always thought the '95 sat high, but sitting next to the lifted '96 now I know why.

Also, the '96 is a bit stiffer than the '95.

So were there taller ZJs than others during production? Or was the '95 just a tall Jeep?

Some of the ZJs came with Up Country suspension package which is about 1 inch taller than those without.

Is there a code/plate somewhere that I could check to see if this rig has this up-country suspension? Is there anything else special about it besides taller springs? Since I'm keeping the '96 and probably selling the '95 I'm thinking swap springs over and get an extra inch or whatever lift for free on top of the budget boost.

My 97 seems to sit pretty high with it's factory suspension too.

There's a sticker on the inside of the left rear quarter window. The package also included tow-hooks and skid plates, besides the special springs & shocks. http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/techart...coupgrade.html

I picked up a 93 GC about a year ago and have thought the whole time that it seemed to ride high. But it had less than 150K miles, leather was GREAT (replaced maybe...) and aside from the usual beat to hell green paint and the usual VIC malfunctions, it was great--so I also thought it was just a soccer mom car and so why would it have even a small lift?...

I saw that it had tow hooks, but didn't think anything of it other than how Chrysler changes things all the time. (most annoyingly even within the same year using different screws bolts and fasteners on things)

Saw the blue shocks and boots too, and kept thinking how they seemed to sit oddly compared to other ZJs but every other ZJ I saw (including my 95 that got totalled) sits lower and you can't see as much of the shocks. .. and I haven't cared enough to crawl under them to compare to mine.

I wrote it all off to 93 being the first ZJ and with all the other changes like fog lights and rear windows that open it was probably just another change.

And with all that...I kept thinking how it seemed to sit higher...

A few days ago someone saw it and said he was trying to figure out the seemingly higher clearance himself... so funny to see this thread after he mentioned that...and after wondering for a year if it had a 2" lift or something and why the old(er) lady who I bought it from would have bothered with that in the first place. He other car is a Prius...

This is it on the plain old stock rims and 245/75-15s (cooper destination AT3s which are a bit taller than the old costco michelins that were on there)
