In high school(01-05) Wranglers were the popular car and I wanted one then(and still do..the JK) but too expensive and was flipping through a magazine and saw the XXXpedition XJ and loved it. Im going the same route with my 98 XJ Limited but not as hardcore on some of the stuff, but will be making my XJ a Diesel XJ next year something about using old cooking oil and rolling down the road and smelling like french fries or egg rolls

the first car I ever bought on credit was an '88 Jeep Comanche... this was in '93, there were other trucks on the lot even a range rover but I just loved the way the jeep handled best and for $5900 it was worth it to me to help restablish credit I had already destroyed.. loved that truck bigtime, sold it to my brother with 190k hard driven miles, he was supposed to sell it back if he ever sold it but I didn't hear he sold it til it was already done... gotta love family....

still the best truck I ever owned hands down, sooooooooooooo I just recently bought my xj about 2 weeks ago and I'm living the dream all over again

well my first car that i still own and drive was/is a 95 escort lx (soon to be cosworth custom) well the motor died at about 237,xxx miles. and i was looking for a truck and i found an add on craigslist for a 69 chevy c10. it needed some work and it had a 350 in it. im thinkin i could pick it up cheap fix the brakes and buy a stepside bed for it. well the guy wanted $500 for it and i was willing to pay. i went and talked to him and drove it around his farm and i was sold. i got home ans started lookin at quotes for insureance. well i called the guy to get the vin and he got really mad thinking i was gonna run it through to see if it was stolen. so i went down there the next day to return the key but my mom insisted on stopping at the police station just in case he tried to pull something. well we get down there and i hand him the key(accidently left it in my pocket when i left) and the cop ran the vin STOLEN. so i got home and waa walking back from the store through my neighbors yard and litterally walked into his jeep. i asked him about it the next day he said "you fix it its yours" so $100 and a new radiator and it was mine. for about a month i was trying to get rid of it. wanted something fast. and i almost traded it for a 96 miata convertable lowered everything. well the guys boat came unhitched from his truck and hit it. and when he had it in the shop getting it fixed i found this site. i had always been into off-roading but didnt think the xj was made for it. found this site and told the guy i didnt want the miata. and here i am 207,xxx miles and a crack block and she still runs and drives. im doing the motor swap now.

It really is the jeep that starts the obsession. I got my jeep about 5 years ago and I always felt it was capable even before I found this forum was my local club. Eventually I found cherokee forum and started fixing my girl up and here I am because of it
