Well I was sitting at work thinking of a good thread to start. Everyone must have started somewhere with some sort of experience or reading or whatever? What started your obsession?
Mine was when my dad Bought a brand new 1994 Jeep XJ Country edition. We put on almost 300,000 miles on it all original. He showed me how to grease and service it, change oil and body work (we went through some difficult times). We drove it to campsites, used it for scouting events, and as a truck for hauling firewood when we moved from Del. Co. to Lancaster area. I miss that thing and I wish it could of made it just a little bit longer so I could have it as my first car. Thats why I love the Pre-1996 XJ's.

I honestly don't know. I've always been a gear head, and for some reason, I've always loved XJ's. I remember a conversation I had with my dad when I was 8 while we were going somewhere in the car. We were sitting at a red light and a XJ goes though the green light and I said, "Dad, one day I'm gonna have a Cherokee." His reply was simply, "That's cool, Matt. They're a good vehicle."

I had a 1990 in high school. Went to college and bought a yj. The yj was hardcore miserable haha so I sold it and bought my 1993 xj. Im never going back to a wrangler. They made Cherokees right. Its a pity they discontinued them in a way but awesome in many more ways.
My xj affliction was incidental... I, despite living in the mountains of Vermont, always had low, fwd cars. Besides the rwd 89 Volvo 240dl from my HS days, that is. I swear I'll never own something other than a jeep!

when i was born, the first car my parents bought was a 89 dark blue cherokee laredo 4x4 automatic, after they sold it i wanted one ASAP.
16 years later i finnally got my wish when my dad and i bought a white 98 cherokee 4x4 and shipped it all the way to the antillies, now i'm ready to start saving up to make it the best dream car a kid could dream of.
allmost fergot, i called her miss Bojangles why, because when i offroad it like she starts dancing with her tires.
and even though that happens, you'll still see me driving her with the biggest whitest smile a man could ever make.

I'm a big fan of boxy trucks and some cars so I love the looks of an xj, I love how addicting they get and how much you can explore with just a stock setup. Since I've had mine for two years I have been given the opportunity by my parents to have for no charge my grandfathers 02' blazer and my step moms 02' 26k mile 4.5 teraflex coil spring/ome suspension lifted tj but both times I have turned them down for the love of my automobile life that is my 226xxx 1988' two door xj that I am looking forward to having for a long long time

For me, it's not an obsession. It's a requirement/opportunity. Like finding out that girl you hooked up with last week is pregnant kind of requirement. If I had a choice, I wouldn't have an XJ. That being said, I take care of my XJ and enjoy it in spite of the encumbrance on my life.

Can you elaborate with us? You've been a member for about a year so I don't think that something that happened last week would of affected your xj pick or lift kit
