Doc, I suggest you walk away from this one and spend some time browsing the forums here to learn more. You are on the right track, but you don't know a lot yet, and it would be easy for you to get burned. Take some time, learn the basics, and keep your eyes open for the right deal.

im gonna at least check the head, and if is the one that is prone to cracking i may be able to uses that as a negotiation tool, and if its not he seems to be a motivated seller, so i may get a deal either way,not to mention a vehicle that suits my needs

If you want a wj which that is look at the 03-04 years those had the upgraded head factory so no worries about the head. And they gave the front end a face lift a little bit.And look for one thats as stock as you can find and well taken care of.Even go as far as ask if they have maintenance record that will show you what all has been taken care of and when. And the reason i say stock is if its lifted its probably been drove hard and has problems you don't know about which show their ugly head after you buy it.Lets say you find one lifted and cheaper then buying one and adding a lift,Well if half the suspension bushings are shot and so are the shocks in the end that might cost you more then a brand new lift kit.
