Default 1999 Grand Cherokee OEM Amplifier, where can I find it?

Hello all-

I was wondering if there were any good sites for finding OEM parts. I need to get an OEM WJ amp. Heres the problem. My girlfriend got a 99 limited. Her front door speakers put out alot of bass, but there is barely any treble, and you can barely hear the music coming out of them, but the bass is there. What could this possibly be? Do I need to replace the amp or just the speakers? Hopefully you all can help me out here!

The lack of tweeters is the problem.

OEM speaker systems are all backwards. IF you go to Crutchfield.com and plug in the vehicle info they can tell ya what fits where inside the Jeep. Best thing to do is get a component system. This is a mid/bass speakers and tweeters that were designed to run together off a single amp. I doubt that the factory speaker would run them though. I'd give them a call too as they can really explain things.

If there are no highs, I'd say that the tweeter is blown. The front doors hold 6x9's, but not many manufacturers make a 6x9 component. If you want to do it right I'm with AzXJ, components all the way. You can take a piece of hard plastic and cover the factory hole and install a set of 6.5 components in the factory slot.

If you really want to check though, get a tester and start checking wires. start at the amp and work forward until you find the problem.

And have fun with the door panels, the black goo on the plastic liner will stick to anything, and I would suggest ou pick up some extra door clips, cause unless you got that little tool, you will need them.

good luck,

tucker

Good advise tucker, I forgot they don't make 6x9 systems

And yeah, door panel clips can be found at NAPA or AutoZone.

Thanks Az. And if you decide to swap them, you might also try woofersetc.com, not as big as Crutchfield, but the prices are usually better. Do your homework and then check out ebay, I got a smokin deal on a set of Polk momo components on ebay, just check feedback and use paypal. not a shameless plug, I actually had a deadbeat seller that wouldn't return my emails and they refunded my money.

BTW, if you have the Bose in your WJ, the amp is under the passenger side passenger seat in the back. Flip the seat forward and there it is.
