I know of 2 people that didn't prepare their jeep, and one was out 3k for tranny rebuild. And one got away with a tranny flush.

just because you have a snorkel, it's not a free card to go swimming.

i put mine on only for insurance when i come across a deep hole on the trail. i'm usually the lead jeep, so if it's too deep for me, then the others will use the bypass.

i haven't waterproofed any part on my engine, it's a messy job and should only be done when you encounter a water crossing.

as for vent tubes, that's unquestionable, extend your vent lines.
i've never extended my exhaust and have shut my engine off under water many many times and have never had a problem, other than possible premature replacement of my cheap *** muffler. once. just last week. first muffler replacement in 5 years.

Big thing is vent lines. If you do that, you've just saved yourself a bunch of headaches later on. Diff vents and tranny vent should be extended as high as you want (top of the firewall for me).

As for waterproofing your engine, use some dielectric grease on the electrical connections (TB sensors, plugs, wires, cap, etc).

I have mine for insurance purposes only, like caged said. I don't intentionally go swimming, but there have been a few times where I've crossed a deep river/creek or going through a deep water hole that have made me glad I have it.

One each. Front diff vent is on the back side near the top. Rear diff vent comes off the axle tube on the driver side.

Add your t-case vent to the list as well. Missed that one in my previous post. The front diff vent should already extend into the engine bay. Look for a hose with a white breather cap on it along the firewall on the driver side. The tranny and t-case can be vented in the same manner - to the engine bay, zip tied to the dipstick tube.

For breather caps, you can source them easily from a dealership. I did GM breathers. Old part number is 8640496 (not sure of the new one).

For the rear diff vent, run the extended line up through the body to the driver side taillight. Drill a hole in the sheet metal and run the hose through it. Only time it's seen is when the hatch gets opened, and even then, with some creativity, you can still keep it pretty well hidden.

x2

just go to the juck yard and cut the breathers off and pocket them and for the tranny line DO NOT PULL IT HARD it will pop off and the only real easy wasy to get to it is to take the tcase out or the tranny out i had my tcase out when i did mine so it was easy to put back together. the rear dif i ran my along the top to where my tcas and tranny breather came up to. i used all the same hoses and got the universal push connectors and rtved the hell out of them. zip tie everthing up too don't need anything getting pulled out and also make sure ALL major pulgs have dielectric grease on them.

i haven't got past the crease in the door with water yet so i have been good so far

and with the research i did the same thing couldn't find anything so posted it on here
