Now this may sound like a dumb question. But is it normal for oil to be on the air filter? Ive never seen that in my life! A friend of mine said its normal but i don't think it is. Any answers would be greatly appreciated

It's normal. The air for the pcv system goes thru the air intake. Blow by causes this. I've seen some not so bad ones and I had air filters you could wring the oil out of.

I wouldn't waste the money on a K&N type filter.. I have them on my Lincoln and the wife's Hyundai.. No noticeable gain in power or anything good. Take a look at one before you buy it. It's made of screen.. like your porch screen door. You spray their air filter oil on the screen and the idea is it will let more air thru and the dirt will get trapped in the oil. I say BS.. those holes are large enough to let a small gnat thru, and i'm willing to bet plenty of dust too. I've cleaned/re-oiled mine several times, so they've probably paid for themselves, but I won't put one on my Jeep.. paper filters are cheap, and the re-useable ones are a pain to clean and re-oil. (They do look cool in the store tho.. take a picture.. they'll never be white again) Opinionated rambling over.

HA wow! Thats no bueno!

OP thats blow by and oil getting into the CCV system which is hooked up to your air box. I think there is a mod you can do to the valve cover to stop that from happening.

Best to run a good dry filter, relplaced regularly.

IMO invest in a cowl air intake system. Or make your own. The cold air systems you see that just have a heat shield next to the filter are a waste. They get you some gains and some noise.
I got the Spectre Cowl Intake and noticed a big difference. I havent had a problem with the filter not trapping anything.
Just my .02
You can make a blow by catcher, I'll see if I can't find the link to the one on JF.
