What you do on your own property is your own business, but when people do this stuff on the trail it makes all of us look bad. If you haven't noticed, we're continually losing areas that were once open to our choosen hobby. Do you seriously believe that the tree huggers will post your pic on their anti-4x4 sites with a caption that clearly states you were on private property?

One log from one tree can be worth several hundred (or thousand depending on quality) dollars to the land owner or timber owner. It only takes damaging the bark in a small area.

well if you put it on a monetary aspect i agree, but the big trees always win against our jeeps.

Just talking about not giving people reasons to kick us out. I see a lot of private owned land open to the public for hunting, closed and posted for this reason.

exactly.

and I know you are aware of the fiasco a former member of a club I belong to got in on his road trip through colorado.

I remember seeing posts on your clubs forum about saving the pictures and sending them to the authoroties. I admit he did some stupid acts, but would reporting him to the authoroties have bettered our sport any?

Its sad, but sometimes we are digging our own grave. I posted the pic to show that driving up a tree doesnt mean "OMG BARK IS GONE TREE DIES" That picture has been posted several times on several forums by several people and you are the first to see an issue with it. Just an observation.

No, but the person in question should have been ticketed and fined. No different that any other law regarding operating a motorized vehicle.
