I am contemplating selling the XJ to buy my old one/dads back, I cant decide if its what I want to do.
ill make a list of each let me know what you guys think
HIS 98XJ- GREEN
-170k miles
-4.5ish lift
-clean as a whistle no rust perfect headliner
-cracked header
-clear coat peel on hood
-4door
-Gibson cat back exhaust
-overhead console
MINE 94XJ- BLACK
-159k miles
-5ish lift
-rust bucket just paid 600 or so to replace passenger floor pan (and more rust on roof bubbling thru paint and on the rocker and dog leg as well as Q-panel on driver side)
-brand new carpet
-crappy *** headliner
-some sentimental value of I built this myself persay
-2door
everything works on both AC/heat, windows, locks and such
both A/T
neither have SYE
- but the rust on mine is what throws me in the air I do not have time or money to fix myself right now plus I lack skills
-I like mine and I don't mind getting in and out of the back with my daughter but his might be more beneficial in long run as its nicer shape and not falling apart
tough decision
let me know what you all think appreciate it

black two door? hells yeah it's nice. I'd take it over your dad's. I figured the bad headliner would be easy enough to remedy though. I think once you take care of the rust you'll be glad to have kept yours.

agreed I am just worried of my jeep rotting away before I can afford to fix it, or let it go one day down the road buy another 2door with less rust if any idk, but you seem to be leaning to keep mine hahah I think I may

I would (and did) get rid of the rust bucket. Rust makes everything harder. Change front axle u-joint = full weekend trying to twist those hub bolts out with a breaker bar. Look closely at the brake lines; they may be rusted to the point that you're afraid to drive it. Bump stop fall off? Time to fab a new bracket... PB blaster says right on the can that it causes cancer--you don't want to be smelling that every time you go for a ride. A clean rust free XJ is easier, safer, and something to be proud of.

again agreed my break lines are good oil coated no rust there :P my dad refers to my jeep as the Exxon Valdese I got so many things leaking underneath however he is mad when he never sees any of it on the ground made me put a pan under it in his new outbuilding not a single drip on it
BIGGEST THING THO rust equals $$$$ when you don't have welder or skills :/
