Roof Rock sliders?
Yep. Where we run some of our trails get about 8ft deep and even more. So when you move side to side you are into the bank. Probabaly the muddy rocky terrain we have. But It would be worth making some for me.
I think though sticking out just a little further would be ideal.

I thought I would share what Ive got so far. I plan on adding another rail at the gutter and capping the ends. For now it only has gutter mounts but eventually Im going to remove the factory rack and bolt thru the roof with some flat stock on the inside under headliner and angle welded to the rack (if that makes sense). I tried to bend the rack (originally scaffolding) to match the curve of the jeep but could only do so much with a piece of wood and the weight of the jeep. The rack/slider is lighter and stronger than my old wildrness rack and has a much lower profile so Im happy.

i would do it if you're running trails that require them.
i know a couple xj guys that integrated them into their cage design.
when i bend my exo, it will have roof sliders.

I don't have the tools or ability to build a full on exo so I made "bolt on" version. Many trails in the PNW are steep, tight and off camber. I tweaked my wilderness rack a little which is what led me on the search for roof sliders. We'll see how they hold up to the abuse soon enough.

Im finished for now (ran out of materials, again) but its mostly done. I just need to tie both corners of the outer rails together and add some light tabs. All in all it cost me about $100 to make and weighs right around 75#, 110# with the hilift. Which is still way less than my tire, hilift and garvin rack used to weigh so its less top heavy than before. Now I just need to test it out
