Roof Rock sliders?
Anyone make or have seen home made ones?
I can go almost anywhere on the trail but on sections where the body will scrape the sides I avoid.
So my idea was to have a type of roof rack that extends about 6in past the side of the roof. This way when you are on your side through an obstacle it will have a much better chance of keeping the sides from getting damaged by the roof sliders hitting first.
I know, I know, but I still want to keep the ole jeep in nice looking condition.
I want to go almost everywhere but still ride in style
Thoughts?

Never mind, I looked at the pictures of your rig. You don't need roof sliders LOL
I also need the stiffeners. One of mine is already mashed in.

As funny as it sounds Im looking at building a set. I sold my Garvin rack cause I kept stuffing it into the trees on off camber trails and am going build a roof slider/rack/wannabe partial exo soon. Ive looked and found a few that seem reasonable but most pre made ones are crap. Im gonna use a full length gutter mount design and factory rack mount holes to tie it in to the roof then cross brace it and add a tire carrier and hilift mounts. It wont be to keep my Jeep pretty (kinda late for that) but it will keep me from getting hung up on every tree and still give me somewhere to carry my tire without destroying a bulky roof rack.

Yep, love the way he has it tied in as a roll cage also!
Just last weekend I was wheeling and was following this decked out yj running wide Iroks. He goes through this big rocky ditch. I follow right behind him. Shoot I soon realize I am at such an angle that my side is about ready to get overhauled by the rocky bank! I had to reverse carefully up a steep portion. Got very light in the rear. Managed to pull it out and straddle the ditch. But a simple roof slider sticking out 6in would have kept me from damaging anything by going straight through without reversing and straddling.
Later on that day the group I was with challenged me to go through a section called the frame twister. I was 2 for 2 on challenges until this section. I walked it and knew I could navigate it but the risk of taking out my side was too great.
Well another fellow rocking a xj was not as scared as I was about damage. He did not try the other challenges because he was open with 31's, so he figured he would get this one.

Needless to say he payed the price and lost all his glass. I was right there. Roof sliders would have saved him.

These are pretty popular out here in the Midwest. Their usefulness depends on the trails you run, so for some they would probably seem useless. Best I could find in the pics I have.
