i have my 98 xj on 33"s with 4.56 gears and 5spd i kinda want to take with me to TN since i heard there is some nice wheeling out there.
but on the other hand i have a 92 honda accord auto that i could take.

My old road trip blog is down, but I did NY to CT via ferry, then stopped in VA, Nashville, Amarillo, Tucson, SoCal, Moab, Colorado...

I wouldn't wheel anything to hard alone. If you have never taken your jeep on a long trip (6+ hours), and aren't confident in it, I wouldn't take it.

We do have some nice trails here in Tennessee but deff don't wheel alone and like stated if you don't feel comfortable on a long trip don't drive it.

I've been from North Carolina to Michigan a few times with my Jeep.
Last trip i suffered from bumpsteer while going 70 a few times.
I feel confident in long trips with my Jeep.
Just do a good inspection and fluid change.
I wouldn't ever do a trip unless i had some backup cash, just in case.

Take the jeep if you can afford it and trust it. When you get there and see a spot to wheel you'll hate yourself for not bringing it.

Take your tools. That's an expensive tow! lol

Lifted my XJ and drove 3200 KM the next day (well it took longer than a day). Ended up needing my sockets and breaker bar because the front end shook loose, and vise grips to clamp a brake line. YMMV. Really depends on the maintenance history of each vehicle. Which one do you trust more?

The Honda will be a WAY cheaper trip. Especially if you're rocking 33s and 4.56:1 on a 5-speed!

I'd jump in my jeep and go anywhere in it...but again its stock so ....

furthest I had it one-way was when I bought it in OKC, 1 1/2hr trip...

had an '88 mj and would drive it anywhere, towed a honda civic on a u-haul monster flatbed from riverside ca, to laughlin nv.. around 4 hr trip... 70-80 the whole way..

yeah I was young and dumb and never realized nor considered the weight I was carrying and the complications (fishtail) that could have killed me going that fast.....

Since I've lived in Okla for the last 6 yrs, I've driven back down to so cal 1400miles one-way around 15 times in various vehicles, if you don't feel confident don't take it...

otoh, if you just bought the honda I wouldn't count on it until you have some time with it..

I've taken several road trips in mine, most were around 1000 miles but there have been 4 or 5 in the 1500-1800 range and I've only had it for 2 years. Go prepared with a spare belt (or replace before leaving) and a box of tools and you should be fine. Fixing it on site will be cheaper than towing if something breaks.

See my road trips in my signature.

This past weekend I drove from NY to Richmond, VA to visit a friend. Then drove over to the George Washington National Forest and did the Peter's Mill Run trail. It didn't look that bad on Youtube but it looks like it rained small boulders all over the trail since those videos were taken. My kidneys took a beating by the end of the trail. After wheeling, I drove back up to NY. 8 hours to Richmond, 12 hours back to NY via GWNF.

The Jeep did awesome. Only issue was the exhaust hanger all the way by the tip broke but that wasn't a big deal. It has 218K miles btw.

Planning a road trip from NY to Orlando, FL at the end of December.
