Default registration???

So I'm moving to Germany for two years and my registration expires about a week before I'm shipping the Jeep. I don't really want to pay for another year of registration and get it smogged for one week of operation... what do I do?

I may have figured it out, the back of my renewal notice says I can just write that I moved out of state and give them a new address and I won't have to pay. But will the company ship my car with expired registration?

I don't see why they wouldn't. They aren't going to be driving it on public roads...

depends on the company, they wouldn't ship my vehicle unless it had valid registration and insurance to get it to and from Hawaii

And a just a FYI. Before you load your jeep up to ship coat the entire underside in wd40. If you don't it will rust before it gets there.

It also needs to be smogged... It should pass just fine. But yeah I basically just want to not spend the money lol. It would save me a hundred bucks or so and some time.

Can I smog it in Texas if it's registered in California?

You have to check with the Texas DMV if you are located there sometimes they do a out of state smog check... Can't you just do a renewal and no smog?

I'm headed to Stuttgart Germany.

I think I'm just going to register the jeep when I get to North Carolina or Georgia while I'm enroute to get out of here. Apparently smog stations don't exist in san angelo...

That makes no sense! I move unregistered vehicles all the time on a truck. Guess the rules are a lot different in certain states.
