That right there would be like throwing fuel on the fire for giving someone mortal hell.. The majority of people like that, are those who have always had mom and dad to hand them everything and never knew what it was like to hit a lick at thing.

That's how I got to know XJs! I can't count how many times i've broken stuff and had to go to the junkyard. Nothing major really, but I definitely have learned not to break things a second time!
Yeah, it's great. I'm a Tech at Firestone and park the XJ occasionally upfront instead of out back(employee parking). I'll get paged to the service counter bc someone driving by saw the XJ and stopped to ask questions or i we did aftermarket work.
I think you should def do the work you can, but also know your own abilities. And not everyone has the supplies or room to do everything they. Ive been gettin real tired of working in the driveway lately. It really makes it a pain to get anythin done have to work around the weather.
That's why I have a dd that does.t need immediate work. My mj isn't done and I dont care...I have a big pole barn to work in, but its cold so I don't want to go out and work on it.

What it really boils down to here is mechanical inclination. Some people have it and others don't. I have it and when my Jeep breaks all I have to do is research my problem on here and in my Chiltons and I can figure it out and get it fixed (unless it requires tools I don't have). I know people who are the exact opposite. They can research all they want and watch youtube walkthroughs all day long, but when it comes time to start working they always manage to screw it up or get stuck.
Speaking of which and sorry to slightly derail the thread but what are some good manuals. I've used haynes and chiltons before with mixed luck and Bentleys that were great but costly. What do you guys prefer?
But I just buy Haynes to keep around, although its a waste of money being that we have free info right here.
