Default Quick lift

I have a 1990 xj, it has a 3.5 inch lift on it right now. What I'm trying to do is fit 33's on it except the tires BARELY won't clear, I don't really want to go out of my way and have to buy a completely new lift kit.. How can I get at least an extra 2 inches of clearance front and rear without spending a butt load of money? Thanks!

Bumpstop it and do a little trimming. You have more than enough lift for 33's. I ran 33's on 1.5" of lift, and now 35's on 2.5-3".

If I go the bump stop way would I have to get different lead springs? And will that make the ride rough?

No, and no. You won't notice any difference. You're just limiting uptravel enough to keep the tires from eating the fenders.
