Default A question for AX-15 guys...

How far up does it take for you to engage/disengage the clutch.

Mine seems to disengage almost all the way to the top. I don't know if this is a sign that my clutch is on the last leg or not.

I have never had an issue with the clutch in any way shape or form but I am a little worried if the engagement point is a good indication of clutch wear and tear or not.

What do you guys think?

Mine releases at the floor, its actually a little to close to the floor when it releases.
Might still be a bubble or two of air in it though.
Just have to becareful at lights etc that you keep it mashed all the way.

See mine released about 1/4 of the way from the floor. Then it stopped working all together. Turns out my slave was shot. I replaced the slave and now the engagement point is very different.

I am thinking my slave was on the way out for a while. I am wondering If you have that problem. That was how mine was when the slave was going out like the day before it wouldn't hold fluid at all.

No that is where it is suppose to release. Mine is the same way, it engages/disengages pretty much all the way at the top like you said and my clutch is only about 2 years old. I thought it was really weird at first but it is normal. If it engages/disengages at the floor then you have an issue.

I put this thing together last year, it was pieced together be a previous owner.
It works so I'm worried about it to much.
Only issue I have at the moment seems to be a slow xfer case leak.
I put a new clutch in it last year when I put the engine in it, thats when I found out it it was the AX-15 instead of the lighter tranny that 87 should have.

Well that is good to hear. So i am guessing that the engagement point has no indication on clutch wear?

As long as it works then it works for me thats my philosophy.

No. The clutch is hydraulic meaning its self adjusting. The only way you will know is if you start slipping while in gear. Trust me you will know when the clutch is bad. It becomes a huge pain to drive.

Sorry about the double post.
