It isn't the flooring it that's the issue, but to each their own.

The space shuttle o-ring worked great at first also.

No. I'm concerned about your safety and that of others. I have seen how little thread engagement there is with Canyons and rear discs.

Ever look up inside the lugnuts? The threads don't start at the bottom. There's a space there. So, you may have 2 or 3 threads holding the nuts on. The torque spec is for full engagement of the threads. What do 85 pounds of torque do to 2 to 3 threads that they are not meant to withstand?

I know when i did my disc conversion i used back the xj lugnuts. Was paranoid as hell. Threds barely came through. So happy with the zj studs. It isn't worth taking a risk. I drive too many miles a week to take a chance on take offs of 10 times. It isn't the lugnuts coming loose, i was worried about the them shearing off. Seen many vehicles stranded with a tire and rim missing. Id rather never be that person

yes. as hillbilly as it sounds I started the lugnut on the stud, marked the lugnut, then counted how many times it made a complete 360* sweep. it was somewhere between 5 and 5.5. I removed the lugnut and repeated. I got at least 5 complete turns with my hand on all of them before encountering resistance. I was able to turn them another .5-1 time before achieving torque. I was concerned about this, but after looking at the open lugnuts I noticed they don't have much more. I didn't find it inoperable as is.

I didn't throw them on, get 1.5 turns on it and call it good. a little regard was had for proper engagement.

The stud size is 1/2". Is 5.5 threads equal to 1/2"?

??? I'd have to measure it. I'd guess equal to or more than .5".

Yes. Exactly. That's somewhat of a universal law regarding threads and torques......

Why are you being so obstinate about a safety item? I really could give a rats *** about you but you are also endangering others what makes you so privileged to do that? They aren't the ones that chose to not be cautious, so why should they have to suffer your stupidity?

The stock studs are suitable for thin drum + thick aluminum rim, and passable for thick rotor + thin steel rim. The trouble lies in the combination of thick brake rotor + thick aluminum rim.

Unless you never hit ANY bumps EVER and never go over about 40 KM/H should you think your current arrangement is safe. It's like driving around with a cracked frame. Sure, it seems okay at the moment, but eventually it's just going to give out.

The studs are less than a dollar each. Dorman 610-234.

this is funny. I'm surprised it hasn't already spontaneously combusted due to it's ever so poorly fastened wheels.

you guys act like I did it on purpose and don't know any better. it's not the most ideal situation, but it obviously functions. I plan on installing proper studs. after that I guess I'll have to find new ways of endangering everyone's lives.

Nobody's "acting" like anything. Get over the persecution complex. We're just stating facts. Others may read this post and need to be advised of the dangers. Perhaps they will be wise enough to heed the warnings, unlike yourself, who chooses to become victimized and lash out...........

I'm not lashing out lol

when's the last time you read a traffic accident repor stemming from a wheel falling off ? I've been in vehicles when it has happened. in traffic. at 65 mph. wheel fell off, actually passed us haha then the truck slumped over and we just pulled off the road.

it's not like there was no stud coming through at all. I'll get to it when I get to it. sooner than later for sure, but my work schedule doesn't allow me to just up and change them.

I owned a towing company for 13 years. Saw plenty of that stuff. More than most people ever realize.
