purchasing q's
Debating between two cherokee's for my sis. a white '94 4dr 2wd for $1900 or a faded grey '88 2dr 2wd $1300. the 94 has 177xxx and the 88 has 172xxx. i'm not sure which year is better made or has been personally better for any of you guys. the 94, i have driven smoothly in a parking lot up to 3rd gear but it had no tags so i'm not sure overall how it runs but the 88 drives very smoothly in all gears. both are sound in idle. let me know what you think would be a better buy.

well if it has no tags dont even think about buying it. its really hard to register properly, so the 94 is out of the question. the 88 is the RENIX injection, and while it doesnt make as much power it tends to be more reliable and will run forever. mines a RENIX w/ 206k miles and still purrs like a kitten, no knocks or anything. i'd shoot for the RENIX but i think i could find you a better deal on craigslist somewhere.

yeah you shouldnt pay more than $1k. but for that cheap dont expect it to operate completely perfect. it'll probably need things like an oil change, tranny fluid and filter change, brake work, fuel filter, etc.... sucks tho because i just saw a 1997 4.0 2wd on NAXJA and he only wanted like 1600 for it. steal for that new of one at that price. but its sold now.
