Default Projector headlights 2000 xj

I'm wanting projector lights, and have found some halos for my Cherokee but have always been told you need a hid conversion kit, but the website I found the headlights on doesn't have a conversion kit for the cherokee

I'm a self proclaimed lighting guru and I'll tell you a few things:

  • Stay AWAY from any of the "projector housings" on ebay
  • If you don't have any experience with lighting or retrofitting projectors, NorcalMR2 conversions are your best bet.
  • NEVER take the cheapest route, I don't care what it is it'll suck.
  • When choosing HIDs for your headlights, keep the color temp between 4300k and 5000k. You'll have the brightest, whitest light. Anything outside of that will be dimmer and basically garbage in comparison.

Here's my headlights in case you were interested in what I'm running...

i had a set of MR2's as well. they where a good starter projector for any one. you dont even need to run HID's in them they come with bulbs. tom won even called me over seas when i ran in to some probs with them. for $185 you cant go worng.

Also, it is better to run halogen bulbs with the Norcal MR2 housings. The projectors weren't really designed for HIDs so the beam pattern will be a little different than that of a true HID projector.

Either way, still better way better output than a sealed beam though.

Those looks just like what I'm wanting to run, but now I have a new question, the ones I've found are running the H4 xenon blue halogen light bulb but can upgrade to hid, if I just use the h4 would it be just a direct replacement? That's what it says on the site, but y'all know how that goes

What bulb would we need for the HIDs? Is it an H4 or H7?

Mine came with both. I used the H7s in a 6000k iirc.

Funny, because the ones I'm running are custom built by yours truly haha.
Show me a link of the ones you're talking about, I think those may be the fake projectors. In which case, stay away.

Those blue H4 "xenon" bulbs are terrible. If you have a tinted bulb, it's just like wearing sunglasses, the tint will allow less light to shine through.

The real question now is, how much are you willing to spend on a lighting upgrade for your XJ?

This may sound a little crazy but my setup was about $500

Yeah I'm thinking like 150 to 200 max, I'd even go without hid if I can get some with halos and the black backing and the price on the link are with the xenon bulbs and no conversion kit and here's the link http://www.dashzracing.com/lighting-...jeep-cherokee/
