If your planning a engine swap and don't want to sink funds into a motor your not sure you can get to fit, you might want to check these out.

On one of the Powerblock shows they use them. I think it was Muscle car. They are a great idea.....beats the crap out of handling a real motor while you are trying to fab.

That's my thought also.

And not being 100% set on what motor I want to use might be a good choice for me..

Once upon a time I had two of these. A small block Chevy and a small block Ford. They were really cool for mock-ups. My GF at the time painted one of them to look like a rear motor from across the street.. then she would pick it up and move it when our wierd neighbor was watching. His face was priceless when he saw this little lady moving a small block by herself.

Thats funny but those are kind of really expensive. So what if you buy one and decide its not going to work out or its not the one you want. I doubt you can return it so you are just out 400 bucks, then you have to buy another one that will hopefully work for you. Or i might even be missing the point of these.

Ya, I'm still looking for other companys offering them.

With the fact I'm going to try and shoe horn a V10 into a XJ it might be easier for mock up..

I believe these were made with a specific engine already in mind. i think the point of these are to test fit the other components that go on it, so if you have aftermarket parts like water pump, alternator, etc, you will make sure they fit with the location they're suppose to fit in then test fit in the engine bay.

Absolutely they are expensive....

But wouldn't it have been more expensive to buy a real motor.. do the work to test it then find out it wouldn't work????

I got mine for ALOT less than the price the company is asking. I found them at a Racer/Hot Rodder swap meet. They really are EXTREMELY handy when trying to fit in a motor that you need to do alot of work to get in. You can bolt accesories, headers etc. right to them and check clearances, motor mounts, wiring and plumbing without having to mess with a huge old hunk O' cast iron.....

Yes it definetly would, but in my mind i would rather do a couple weeks of extra measurements and research and save the 400 bucks, . to each their own. I can definetley see both sides would have their pros and cons.

and i guess i didn't read the full description where you can actually bolt on all the accessories. thats a big pro

Thanks but that's a Ford motor. I'm going Dodge. The Dodge motor is smaller in actual size as compared to the Ford. I'll be picking up a near complete old V10 work truck. See I'm using all the trucks wiring also to replace the XJ's No splice or computer flashing required.
