Whatever size you want if your willing to remove some metal. Im on 3.5 and 35s and it works great

Quote: without trimming and gears 31 is all you can fit and still drive it offroad. If it's show jeep maybe 32 or 33.
Im running 35s on stock gears and wheel it hard whenever I get the chance.

I'm meant without removing fender flares. He could trim and fit whatever he wants.

it makes a difference in look and traction. If your jeep was stock with stock flares when you got it you would understand.

Would you honestly suggest that anyone should "EVER" run 35" tires with a stock gear? No way it could not be a dog, and very hard on the engine and trans nothing to stop it. I know mine was very doggy with 33's and stock gear and now with 35's wish I had 4.88 or 5.13's instead of the 4.56 I have.

I get having to wait for them for a while as gears and lockers cost quite a bit of money to save for them, I had to. but you make it sound at times like it works fine that way to people who don't know.

BTW I like yours on the 35's and the extra clearance it gives that's the only reason I went to 4 1/2" was tires and long arms.

Made that last post when you were doing this I was stating what came as stock on the XJ's as for tire size. My son's last XJ came stock with the 235's on it and no problems with the flares I'm aware of. He only removed them when I gave him my 31x10:50's on a new set of wheels.

My XJ came with the 31x10:50's on it and no flares with some trimmed.

I just brought a 1995 jeep cherokee country it has road tires on it at the moment and iam looking at getting some new tires but iam not gona put 31's on this rig. But iam going to put a lift on it. My wife's suv has goodyear wranglers 235.75.15's on and I there hasn't been any problems with them and I have taken here suv off road in when I go fishing.

Honestly, Yes. But its circumstantial. Can they afford gears, what kind of deal are they getting tires for(I got 5 MTRs for 600, couldn't pass it up) are they planning on keeping the stock axles. Yes I fully understand normal driving is gonna be hard on some stuff, but when youre out wheeling youre mostly in 4lo which still has plenty of power to get me where I need.

Ok great I'm glad it works so well then, but off road in low is where I wish I had the 5.13's running 35's or a duel stick TC would be better. On the highway on 33's is where the 4.56's are correct gear making the XJ stock again.
