Default p1494 code where on earth do I start?

I know this is for the leak detection pump and could be a leak from a hose or the pump it self would the gas tank cap have anything to do with it?

I heard that this is a hard code to solve any advise guys I hate seeing that check engine light on lol

Start with the gas cap (maybe get a new one that seals better), then start check all hose connections.

get the fancy locking gas cap that has a secret compartment that you can put stuff in. Like emergency gas money.....

Would like a follow up on this, I have the same issue. Just came on Sunday. Not thrilled about putting in a new fuel pump.

Fear not Johnny9!

It's one of those difficult-easy things to do. Difficult to start troubleshooting due to not knowing where to begin. Easy to fix after you find the cause (as usual). I found a cracked tube which I then cut and spliced using a piece of fuel line tubing.

First things first. Clear the code then monitor for a repeat occurrence to confirm the issue is real. If real then, for many, the gas cap is a solution. Replace it and clear then monitor for codes again. It's a cheap simple place to start and is a good PM step even if it doesn't resolve the issue.

If the issue repeats then perform a thorough visual inspection, with gentle manipulation, of the hard plastic tubing that emanates from the purge unit (located under the Jeep, inside the drivers frame rail, approximately under the back seat). You may need to remove the shield in order to accomplish a thorough inspection so prepare the fasteners with penetrant (PB Blaster) the day before and remember to clear/monitor codes after repair because there may be more than one leak.

Good Luck.
