Why dont you just get a factory skidplate from the jy?

The one in your link may have a bit more coverage but unless your gonna be on the rocks a bunch a factory one should work fine. And you should be able to get one at the jy for a lot cheaper than the one in your link.

They came stock on some models? which ones to look for in the junk yard?

Rustysoffroad has a tc skid for 99 + shipping for another option but i dont have one either

Well the xj's with the tow package came with them as well as the upcountry package. And you could order them bc my sport has them. So any xj could have them i suppose.

Im not really sure. I know the front skids were all the same and the rears were different so im not really sure.

I can get this for 85 bucks on craigslist. how much would a skid at the jy cost me and how much work is it to take one off?

It depends on the jw. Could be $25 could be $75 and 2 bolts hold it on.
