Opinions on Maaco paint???
Looking to have my jeep painted for a good reasonable cost. Maaco seems to be a good option. Has anyone had there vehicle painted? Looking to get my jeep painted a nice viperish yellow . just dont know if i would like the quality. They have good customer service from when i have e-mailed them but they cant give me a quote. Just looking for the pros and cons of getting my jeep painted there. Anybody got info?

i spent under $200 with paint and supplies and spent 2 full days on prep and did my own and it is holding up better than my buddies MAACO paint job...
btw mine was using very nice BASF 1 stage paint that came out VERY nice and shiny
not worth it

Really considering it.... Ill give you my options right now.
My option-
Dig through garage and find paint spray
Make my plastic tape room in the garage
Do all my own body work
Tape everything off
Primer it
Sand the primer
wipe dust off
spray in auto paint * yellow*
Add clear coat
Let dry.
Now from what i hear is at maaco-
Take jeep in
Get a full yellow jeep including wheels tires windows etc
I think i will do it myself now.... Is there anyone on here who could PM a good painting tutorial ?

is that the one that will do any car any color for 100 bucks? if it is, they start at 100 bucks, where they will paint over everything except windows i guess. paint over emblems, over stickers and such. the price goes up if u want a pro job.

Plus a little wet sanding when you get it back and they come out really nice. If you dont prep it yourself be prepared to have paint on EVERYTHING. Oh and there economy paint job does not include painting any jambs or under the hood at all.
If you want to get a decent paint job for really cheap (when I say cheap I mean REALLY REALLY cheap) buy a gallon of implement enamel and hardener and a gallon of acetone for a total of about $25 and spray it your self. Looks good dries harder than rock and looks good. Or go buy good paint and get a better looking job like 96xj did. Although if the prep is good the implement enamel comes out smooth and shiny too.

The Maaco in Sacramento CA has done a lot of award winning show cars, not all of the Maaco stores are bad or good, it really depends on the people that work there and you do get what you pay for in most cases.
