Default Opinion on Purchase...

Hey Guys,

I have an oportunity to pick up a second cherokee. It is a 97, 4.0, 5spd, 4WD. The only problems that is has according to the owner (I have not gone and looked at it yet) is that the tail pipe has fallen off (I'm not concerned about this) and that it slips out of first gear, this I'm a little concrned about. Is this something simple or does it need a transmission?

It has 240,000 on it, hes willing to let it go for $325

What do you guys think, input very appreciated.

Matt

So it's a '97 5-speed 4wd in good condition that needs an exhaust and slips out of first gear, for $325?

Hell if the thing didn't go into first gear at all, $325 is a good price, especially if it runs well and is in good shape with little rust.

First part of the year of 97 or the later part of 97 . Later part of 1997 slightly better wiring.

No matter what its worth 300-400 in scrap, the motor is worth 500, get it! if I were closer I would grab it out from under you!

Ditto.

I paid $450 for my '94 parts Jeep, and it's a rustbucket.

Default Update

Ended up getting it, not sure what I'm going to do with it yet though, drove it back 30 minutes home with no problems, no first gear at all, 4wd works, and it has the Upcountry package.
