Default Non-smoking oil??

My 1994 XJ has started to burn a bit of oil and the smoke is making me uncomfortable because people stare especially at stop lights and the smell of burning oil gives me a headache. Other than it buring off oil it runs ok. Is there any sort of oil that just doesnt produce smoke even if its getting past pistons or whatever and into the combustion chamber? I intend to correct the oil buring problem later but for now just want to be less smokey. Thanks

I dunno about you but if there ever was such a thing and I used it to hide a problem like this I would totally forget about it,which could end rather, well, badly

Do you know what is causing the oil burning issue? If it is excessive blow by you could do a temp fix with an oil catch can.

burning oil = ring job or head job. Sorry, no short cuts here.

Switch to a 100% synthetic.
It will quit smoking, synthetic doesn't burn.
Just make sure you keep an eye on your oil level.

Ok I have to ask..Oil catch can? Also I was thinking as someone else mentioned synthetic. I can get that cheaper than most people since I work in a truck parts store and get everything at our cost plus 10%. It's a slow burn off taking several weeks to lose a quart or two.

This might sound like a dumb question but...If the synthetic oil "doesn't burn" then where does it go once it seeps past the rings into the combustion chamber? At least if the regular oil burns off it's getting out of there. Or does the synthetic "burn" but just not produce smoke?

As someone who starts all his tire fires with used motor oil, take my word for it. Synthetic burns very nicely. It just may take a bit more heat to ignite.
