Newbie; How rare is 5 speed select track?
thinking of buyin a '01 cherokee sport 5 speed. it has select trac and the guy says its rare. is this true?

Well, In theory it makes sense:
5 speeds that late were generally in SE's, the lowest trim.
Selec-Trac would have been an extravagant option on something that base.
So theoretically, a 5 speed Selec-Trac would be rare.
But if FrankZ says no, then probably not.
Two thoughts:
It doesn't matter that much, you will be amazed by how little use the full time 4wd.
If this guy is actually telling you this, then he's probably not entirely on the level...

It's harder to find newer Jeeps (other then SE's) with manual transmissions, but I wouldn't call them "rare".

for a 2001 it is rare... most 5spds from the factory did not come with selec-trac... is it rare overalll no you can get that combo in a older xj
and if it has no rust... anywhere that might make it rare lol depending where you live...
