Hello fellow jeep fiends, I have recently picked up an 98 xJ 4.0 l6
pretty stock all the way around and looking for a decent lift to put on it, Also would like opinions on throttle body upgrades and if i should upgrade injectors while upgrading throttle body.
New to the jeep scene but not the mechanics scene so whatever needs done lets do it.
For the time being anyone throw some muds on stock sus? if so what were you able to fit without cutting the well all to s**t? i was thinking 30/9.5s on stock 15s let me know what yall think
anything would be appreciated and glad to be here!

Canon for tire size on a stock XJ is 235/75R15. 30.5x9.5 will fit, but may risk some tire rub. If you have an upcountry suspension (basically factory 1" lift) then 30.5's should be fine.
Injector upgrade is a popular one. I've never heard of people upgrading the TB itself.

You won't rub with 30/9.5's as long as your suspension isn't flattened out. Some mud terrains on there would have the aggressive look but you'll still be riding on near-stock tire size. If I were you, I'd let the Jeepfever take its toll and go up to at least 31's. You won't be butchering your wheel wells to make them fit- just a little trimming and/or removal of the stock flares.
A local member on here sells throttle bodies with a bigger throat but I doubt you'll need it unless you step into some bigger tires. At least, I'd put that on the back burner until you feel the new shoes.
Depending on the type of wheeling you'll be doing the problem of the tires hitting the lower control arms when on stock rims could very well be an issue more so than fender/flare clearance. My 235's would hit under certain conditions. 30's will more so. You can adjust the stops on the knuckles but that can reduce your turning radius.

Not exactly an SOS like the title would lead us to believe, but you can't go wrong with upgraded injectors for the price & ease of install.

Go to the For Sale section here. There are folks selling refurbished 4-hole injectors and 62mm bored throttle bodies. I have these upgrades on both of my Jeeps. Given how old these things are, fresh and clean injectors are always welcome - and you can clean out the carbon build-up from all the **** gas that's circulated these days.
Please don't cut your fenders if it's mostly rust-free - stock sheet metal isn't that common anymore.
Zone 3" lifts are pretty reasonable in my opinion. There's always the "upcountry clone" option which is about $600 worth of parts, give or take.

Welcome to the forum.
There is a TON of really good information on this forum. If you look into the ""Stickies"" on every sub-forum all your questions will be answered.
Again welcome, and post up pics of your new Jeep, we all love pictures.
