Cool Going to Upgrade my GC! Suggestions Please!

Hello,

This is my first post and I am very happy to join this great forum, I had been reading for a while but not registered but today I want to ask a common question, just want to get your thoughts about my project and any suggestion is welcome.

I have crashed my 1991 Grand Cherokee only 70,000 miles . But thanks to the Lord I am fine. but my GC needs a new body, chassis, engine and trans are perfect. I have bought a 2000 body and want to get custom paint on it like these one found on the forum but with another color instead of the silver. I want to put 2007 Compass rims on it painted in black or gunmetal. What other mods should I do? I will use it to daily work on the city, no mud or snow on it, since I live in a tropical island and don't want to roll over again just want to make it look mean and modern.

Thanks in advance for your excellent opinions!

welcome, what tropical island do you live at? from your name I guess PR

sounds like you have a good plan, if you want a street modded looking GC well I suggest the rally compass rims, they look way better than the regular compass rims..

Yeah thats my aim, and those are the perfect rims I think.

Regarding the paint, what about a charcoal gray and black i two tones

Here is the photo found in the forum I like this guys job on the paint

ok, you can do that on a grand Cherokee, I haven't seen it before but it would look good, you might want to try and photshop it before you go for it to make sure you like it.. also the bottom part there is Herculiner that has a tough texture is not just plain black paint, but you can do it with regular paint if you want

Yeah, I prefer to use special paint on it due to the road and the little flying but damn hard and precise stones! and the scratches. Thanks.

ok, well the liner you can do the spray on, that its ok, but you wont get the texture nor the protection as a roll on job will, the roll on way will be thicker,, I did it both ways to my XJ on some panels,, and I really prefer the roll on,, (venden un kit en westerauto, ahi es mas barato q Pepboys)

I do not think the compass rims will fit. You need to check the bolt pattern. I know the GC is 5x5 bolt pattern, 5 studs with a 5" spacing. The spacing ismeasured from the edge of one stud tothe center of the stud two away, here is alink that shows it. I think the COmpass is the same as the Liberty and is 5 x 4.5 which is the same as the 93 to 98 Grands. the 99 to 04 grands were changed to the 5 x 5.

FOund this on another site

5 x 5 (same as 5 x 127)

that 91 motor will be held to the 2000 emission standards. Controls may not jive with OBD II m inspections... just be careful
