On my last trip to Alturas, I found a huge mudhole completely engulfing the dirt road I was traversing that day. I was in 4WD hi when I hit the mudhole doing maybe 25mph. It was the wifes 1st time in the mud ever. We got to the middle of this mini lake and the Jeep stopped moving forward. I said, "Uh-oh" and the look on the spouses face was priceless. I slipped it into 4WD Lo, backed up about 3 feet, then slowly crawled forward out of danger! What a blast. I was hooked, from that moment on!

The general club is about 'Stock As A Rock', but not necessarily 'Bone Stock' We have another discussion area within the club for those who might fall in that category, please at least make yourself known over there if indeed you are BONE STOCK.
Stock for the purpose of this group means NO permanant mods of any kind. No lifts (Except OE Up Country), No aftermarket bumpers or racks. No Light racks on top. Aftermarket wheels and tires don't count as mods to me.
The general club allows for 'Upgrades' to all available stock and dealer options. It also allows for 'upgrades' to: OE Up Country lifts, Radiators, Fuel injectors, and exhaust systems as long as you still pass SMOG where applicable.
You can have any 'accessories' as well. Non-permanamt roof racks. Stereos, Cbs, antenni, Custom wheels and tires, tinted windows, Front Fog Lights,
If you temporarily run doorless, but don't plan on doing that permanantly, that's cool too.
Welcome one and all, STOCK JEEP owners
That means i can join... cause my lift isnt permanent... nothing welded on

WOW!! Small world. I lived there from 8th grade through high school. Graduated in '83. Now I'm buying a couple of acres in the Pit River Estates on Centerville Rd. up there. My High school sweetharts mom still lives in Canby... Brooks was their name.
Huh. Small world indeed.

Does the whole summer and part of the fall and spring count as temporary?

I just turn my air on. A lot less work, less dirt in the cabin, and my camping gear and my self, stay dry. And will it sits in the drive way, I know my possessions are still in it, and locked up!

Ok sorry for my ignorance guys but will a set of up country front and rear springs from a '93 XJ fit my 2000?

I think I found a set on CL, they could be from either a '93 or '98. Waiting to hear back from the seller.

What is a decent price for them?

And Look! Working struts..... I'm sure getting tired of my hatch hitting me in the head. It depends on the weather....if its a warm day, they will work. If its cool, they dont. I found a little headed broom at the dollar store with a handle the perfect length. I unsrcewed the head of the broom, and use that as the 'whisk' broom and the handle to hold up the hatch.

Gee Amos, I'm not sure. If our club has one fault (if not many, as people are eager to point out) it's that since we have stock vehicles, we've never attempted this kind of 'upgrade' as of yet. You might wish to ask in a different thread in the tech section, but then come back here and tell us!!! lol. Thanks.

It seems apparent that there is an issue with tail lift struts, never had this problem I press the button and liftgate raises itself.
And stays up no problem.surely fitting new dampers is easier than wedging with broom handles etc.
