Need a truck
After owning a 1998 Cherokee for the past 2 years, I absolutely love this vehicle. It's in great, original shape with no rust and only 186k miles on it, but I need to get rid if it. We have a 6,000 lb trailer the is just too much for it. Any recommendations on a truck would be appreciated. The cherokee was easy and inexpensive to work on and tough as nails. Is there a truck that is similar to these traits?
Thanks
Thanks

GM M1008:

or Dodge M880/M890:

or an old Power-Wagon:

or really just about any older (if you want easy to work on) big-3 full-sized pickup, especially "Heavy-Duty" (F250/350, 2500/3500) models. Preferably something with a solid front axle (especially if its a GM, their IFS is notorious for issues).

Whatever you get stay away from anything GM Full size from 1994. They have a very stupid electrical problem (or can have I should say) that renders a lot useless. Its the way they ran the VSS through the column and brake switch for the cruise control. I had tons of problems with my 94 C1500. 88-93 good, 95-99 good... just stay away from 94. Lol

If it weren't for Fords towing off all the broke down Chevy's littering the streets around here, the roads would be impassible! I've owned Ford trucks for 30 years. I've had one Chevy truck in that time frame (1999) and had to threaten a law suit to get my money back. That Chevy starting falling apart on day one. The Chevy may (at best) be a decent DD, but it can't handle any type of workload. My current Ford has 248,000 miles and runs/drives like new. My very first Ford truck and the two Ford trucks previous to the one I own now were all well over 300,000 miles and all still daily driven and worked hard at the times each were traded in. Now, let me finish my rant by stating that I love driving my XJ. It's not my workhorse, but its a great driver and off-road toy.
Each person will say that whatever truck has lasted them forever is the best company but that's all individual experience. Unless you can compile the data from every owner over the last 70years you'll never get a reliable answer. Go with something from mid 80's back for ease of working on and lack of superfluous electronics. Find a style you like and get the engine/tranny/drivetrain that suits your purposes.
