Default Need opinions fast!

So to start my cherokee got totaled two weeks back and now i need a new jeep! i have been looking and i didn't wanna spend more than 3k. found a 95 sport with 160k in really good condition for 3k. there are a few problems with it, and i want your guys opinions on if its worth it.

problems:
-drivers side top door hinge weld broke so the top hinge isnt attached to the car anymore and the door falls when you open it.
-back hatch shocks are shot and it will only close if the key is in it
-muffler is rust with some metal in there
-ride is ROUGH, lots of tire rub (33's on 5ish inch lift. shackles, AAL, coils, and coil spring spacers, NO SYE)
-wont start sometimes in park, you need to throw it in neutral to start it...dunno the issue there
-no headliner
-breaks are sloppy...

Good things!:
-CLEAN!
-BRAND NEW tires, lift, wheels
-160k original
-motor is strong, no ticks, knocks, or unusual jeep sounds
-looks super badass!
-clean title

so reply please please please and let me know if 3k is worth it. i do need to be able to drive it 2 hours north once or twice a week to see the girlfriend! and i will have $1000 total to put into it for all repairs and add ons.

thanks guys i appreciate the help!

I personally would not pay 3000 for an xj with those problems. And a half a$$ lift. Of course, I wouldn't buy any vehicle that already has a lift. They tend to be driven harder. But I can tell you the issue withnit not startng in park is most likely the nuetral safety switch on the transmission. It needs cleaned or replaced. Pretty simple fix

Offer him less and see what happens, worst he can say is no. If you can do work yourself you could fix the problems but then would be into more than 3k.

Don't pay 3k for that! Try to get it for $2500.

I agree with the 2-2500. If he really wanted 3k he would have those problems fixed.

It can be fixed if you or someone you know can weld sheet metal.
-back hatch shocks are shot and it will only close if the key is in it
10 minutes and $30-40 in parts to fix the shocks, the key is a non issue
-muffler is rust with some metal in there
under and hour and $20-100 depending on what muffler you get
-ride is ROUGH, lots of tire rub (33's on 5ish inch lift. shackles, AAL, coils, and coil spring spacers, NO SYE)
this would give me pause
-wont start sometimes in park, you need to throw it in neutral to start it...dunno the issue there
Neutral safety switch, tons of threads about it on here
-no headliner
eh
-breaks are sloppy...
fluid flush and leak check

$3000 is too much.

I'd also be concerned as to why someone put a brand new lift, tires and wheels on a jeep and is turning right around and selling it.

Keep shopping, maybe you'll find an actual clean XJ with a drivers door that stays on.

if you were closer I would happily put you in my 91 for $3k. 33's, 3 inch lift, nice wheels, trimmed fenders, CD player, nice-ish interior, clean exterior...

Find another Jeep imo.

I personally wouldn't buy a Jeep that was already lifted. And especially with a lift that wasn't done right. Some of the other issues are simple fixes, and wouldn't bother me, but the hinge on the door being broken off and the lift would keep me from buying it, especially for that price. If you can get it for $1500 or less, it might be worth it. The thing is, aftermarket parts don't add any value, and on top of that it has problems. Its not worth anywhere close to what the guy is asking imo.

What part of Oregon are you in? I always see decent Xj's around Portland area. This one looks ok.

I live down in Albany, I was looking at this one too, I'm willing to drive 3 maybe 4 hours for a nice rig! Not like I have much better to do! Haha

I would gladly take some thoughts on this XJ!

Actually that looks like a pretty good deal. It needs some body work (front bumper looks crooked) and as the ad said the back bumper needs replaced but otherwise it looks darn good actually.
