Hello, I'm new to the forum and the Jeep community in general so forgive me if this is in the wrong place.
I just purchased a 2001 Cherokee Sport with 78K miles and a 3 inch lift. I have been going through the Jeep and replacing parts and making in mine. While I had the drivers side rear wheel off I noticed that the thin plate that protects the fuel filler neck going into the gas tank had a huge rust hole in it and it was in bad shape. Does anyone know where to get a new one? I looked on Ebay and no luck there. I also looked at the typical online stores for a replacement and I had no luck there either. I would really like to get this part replaced before the winter. Can anyone help point me in the right direction? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm just putting it in my searches with the incorrect name.
Let me know!
Thanks!

Since I'm up here in Michigan the ones I would find would most likely be just as rusty. I know there are some that are online that are southern. I'm not a fan of most of the junk yards up here near Detroit. They are generally scary.
Having on fabed up out of stainless is a great idea but kind of a last resort and there is a good chance its real expensive. I'm surprised with all the aftermarket body parts for the XJ available this one is not as far as I'm awair.

How big is the filler neck guard?Worse case talk to a metal shop or anyone with a break and get a quote of that will do that.
I found the part number.
The XJ parts catalog lists it as a Heat Shield, part number 55003285AB.
I just saw one on RockAuto for $9. Whoot!
