Need advice on my exaust
I have a 96 Cherokee, with a 4.0. It needs a whole new exhaust. I was looking at running true duals, this is my first straight 6 and I know very little about. Any suggestions or good sites to look at would be appreciated.

You can not run true duals, won't be legal because of emissions. Besides, you won't gain anything from it. Check with your local dealer and see if there is a cat converter recall for this model year, a guy I work with had a recall involving the cat on his 96.

I live on Alabama. I don't plan on running a cat. We don't have any kind of emissions inspections here. But If I'm not going to get any added hp then it's not going to be worth it.

Just increasing the size of the piping will get you more gains than doing a full dual system. Routing the second pipe would also be a problem.

I've been looking at all kinds of exhaust, there's so much crap out there in not sure what to get. I'm looking for added hp and value. Staying low on price is always nice, but I want to get the right parts.
What are you running on yours busted? Or anyone else?

I am running a stock set up, but instead of a tail pipe, after the muffler I have just a turn-down.
BTW-running a cat is a federal law, so it applies to everywhere on road. If caught without one, you could run into big fines. Just an FYI.

im running the same as dj, i just cut the pipe after the muff. as for the cat, i agree it is fed law and if caught there are big fines. but there are some places who could not care less. if you get pulled over by the fbi your ****ed, but even the state police here in colorado ive seen run straight pipe on there personal jeeps.
(cop jeeps are so much fun)

GET AN AERO TURBINE. I have stock cat with AERO TURBINE 2525XL with a straight tail pipe exit. Sounds awesome
Make sure u run the entire system as a 2.5 in pipes or else u will not have enough back pressure.

Hmmm... How do we know it is a street vehicle? I must have missed that part...
Any who... you can buy a header that splits the cylinder head 3+3 so true duals is possible... however it would be expensive to do. With 2 pipes you can run smaller diameter pipe so it should fit. You could run the two pipes along the whole way exiting the back in a duel side by side tip.
Splitting it to the driver's side would be difficult. You will have to be creative and make sure to use heat shields where appropriate so you don't set the carpet inside on fire...
