Start by comparing apples to apples. One of these appears to be approved for Aircraft use, guess which one is the most expensive.
Bottom line is if the damn thing is on fire, I want to put it out.....dont really care if it makes a mess as long as it goes out.

The cheaper extinguisher is a dry chemical type that may leave a corrosive residue behind. The more expensive extinguisher appears to be a halon type that will not damage electrical/electronics nor corrode metal. Halon extinguishers are found in data centers (computer rooms) and on aircraft. You get what you pay for.

Sounds like good info.

Over the years I have used two on my vehicles and 15+ on other vehicles.
One time we had a person trapped in the car and ran out of fire ext. We ran into a Shell and grabbed warm soda bottles and shook them up and put out the fire while rescuing the driver.
I retired last year with 40 years as a Volunteer Fire Fighter.

On other's vehicles? Over a dozen times. Often enough that I have one fire bottle in my wife's car (5#) and two in my truck (5# in easy reach, 10# just inside the liftgate.)
Even if you throw a couple of boxen of baking soda in an airtight baggie (it works!) because it's cheap, there's no reason to not have a fire extinguisher in your vehicle. Or in your kitchen. Or a couple in your garage, near the furnace, near the water heater, near your gas dryer, ... I don't understand people who are too damned cheap to buy even decent safety gear (it don't have to be top-of-the-line or state-of-the-art, but anything is usually better than nothing. Not that I think those chrome bottles on the A-pillars of riceboi cars are useful - they're 1.5-2# bottles, and chrome holds heat - it's in the sun all the time, and you'll probably sear your hands to it if you grab it in a hurry... A bottle that small is good for about two cigars anyhow...) but buying a Kidde dry-chem or two (A/B/C fires. Not many people need a D or A/B/C/D fire extinguisher, and they're expensive specialty items...) from the local hardware store is a very positive step, and doesn't cost much.

On my own vehicle? Never.

Never needed a fire extinguisher in a car, and have only seen a car fire once.... ever, so even if its nice to have its not on my list to buy in any time soon.
I use a $20 Costco Extinguisher. I have several, in the house and jeep and a spare. I've put out road side fires and two underhood fires on other peoples cars and used it once at work with the one I carry in my XJ. Metal valve and refillable. The refilling company comes by my work twice a year and inspects and fills my extinguishers for free!

Have peace of mind, have an extinguisher. The halon or CO2 type are less mess. If you need it the mess is the last thing on your mind. Have used twice on others vehicles, they were very appreciative. Do you have on in your house, you should.

No need for the expensive aircraft model. Any ABC chemical extinguisher will suit your needs.
I carry one in the Jeep and have two in the house, one in the kitchen and one near the utility room, the apartments I live in also have one mounted outside my front door. My opinion on extinguishers, I'd rather tote the sucker around or find a place for it for years without needing it, than to need it and not have it.
I watched my buddies 64 Ford truck burn to the ground years ago because we could'nt do anything about it, worst part was the two county sheriffs that were first to respond to the call did'nt have extinguishers either. By the time the fire department arrived it was too late. If we'd had a couple of fire extinguishers we probably could have contained it to the engine compartment.
To the previous poster claiming to never need one and not planning to get one. Do yourself a favor and re think that. You never know when you might need it. To save yourself or perhaps someone else.

In my opinion; the bigger the better. a small 2lb one gives you what a couple second blast? that'd be only any good for a tiny fire or to slow one down. Now a 5lb one will give you 10-15sec blast which would be much more helpful... i think if your going to get a small fire extinguisher might as well get a couple of them, or get a big one and be done... just my thoughts..
