looking to get a winch
hi all im looking to get my first winch here pretty quick when my new lift build is done and i was looking on roughcountry.com at their 9500 with the synthetic rope for $400 is that overkill? any input on the power, synthetic rope or known better deals/brands would be much appreciated.

You won't find a better deal. Ordered mine (9500 w/ synthetic) this past weekend from Grimmus for $412 shipped. Been looking for a couple of months and haven't come anywhere near that price for the same specs. For our Jeeps, you want at least an 8k, so the 9500 is perfect. As far as the power, according to others who have them, they're a little slower, but they pull really well.

If I could get any winch Id get a mile marker...
You could literally pull all day, but at the cost of your wallet. Not really in the 400 budget.

The RC is the same as the Mile Marker. Why not just get the RC through Grimmus on here for less, plus save an extra 10% for being a CF user? Telling ya, they're best deal out there.

An electric winch is only 15% efficient... the rest is expended hy heat. So you have to let them cool. Operation to keep the life of an electric winch is 1 minute of use 9 minutes of cool down.
Hydraulic winches are 70 -80% efficient. You can run them without stopping. They are a little slower when not under load...
Wasting engine power just warms up the oil a bit, but wasting 85% of the electricity kills the battery.

RC is just like the Mile Marker ELECTRIC winch.... MM makes both electric AND hydraulic.
I have seen RC winches in use they work very well! even when pulling up a 4 door fully loaded 4 door JK up a very steep grade after being high centered.
RC is the best thing for your money and like mentioned contact Grimmus for your discount

titan.
my buddy duncan owns titan winches. he stands behind his product better than warn ever would.
he has taken apart every winch on the market to build a great contender to compare with most.
