This is it...it’s a ‘98 with 132k. It’s had rust repairs made. There’s a “rust encapsulator” then monstaliner over that. Had that done to the rockers and front floor boards.

Has Napier fender flares, new brakes last fall as well as rear alloy axles. New plugs, wires, and distributor cap this spring. New fluids in transfer case, axles and transmission and new transmission solenoids

It looks clean from what little I can see, and I like the flat flares, but it's hard to tell what that Monstaliner might be hiding...

My concern as well. He said the rust was dealt with before applying the monstaliner but I have no real way of knowing that.

Looks that way but how long ago did he do that? I also wonder how well he cleaned up the rust prior to any treatment and monstaliner because if you don't get all that cleaned up once you lay over that monstaliner all your doing is trapping that rust underneath and will cause damage over time. Did you buy that? Looks like it could have been done right and interior looks clean.

Only thing I see is in picture #1 what is going on with that gutter like fence guard on there?

I guess I don’t have any way to know how well the rust was cleaned up. From talking to him it sounds like it was done right. He said the spot on the door was the worst of it. I haven’t bought it yet but I’m really considering it.

Looks like like it was probably used as a backing for filler... There's a small hole in the quarter panel in pic #2 as well. I'll bet he didn't weld in new sheet metal.

He said rust was "dealt" with, but welding new metal is that only way to deal with it right.

I'm getting tired of pooping all over every XJ you post pictures of here. I bet you are too, but I have to be honest...

He had someone offer him more than his bottom dollar so I think I’m going to be passing up on it. Not getting in a bidding war over it.

glad you dont... Just looking at pictures and hearing how the po "fixed" the rust issues I was going to say I'm not a fan of that jeep.

I’m glad you’re honest man. That’s why I post stuff here I know I’m getting 100% unbiased feedback.

Well sorry it did not work out for you. Maybe some of the guys around here can search one out for you in the south no rust belt and then between cost of purchase and your location you could ship it and still be below your budget.
