Default Lift install tips/tricks

Im going to be installing a rough country 4.5 inch lift next weekend, and i was wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks to doing it. Things i wouldnt find in the instructions, or things that make it easier. Fixes to things that are most likely going to break or go wrong. Thanks in advance. If theres already a thread with this. Please dorect me to it and delete it.

Buy a case of pb plaster and make sure you have the tools for the job before your start.

Watch out for the upper rear shock mounts if u got a lil bit of a rusty one they tend to seize up good.

when the upper rear shock bolts break, and they will, knock them out with an air hammer, reach through the big triangular holes, drop new bolts through and put a nut on them. If your leaf spring bolts are siezed inside the bushing, back them all the way out of the weld nut inside the body before you try to cut them off, or you will end up having to cut through your floorboard and replace that nut. The leaf springs are short, use a floor jack under the axle and a bottle jack between the leaf and the body to straighten the spring out enough to reach the shackle.

have about 6 ratchet straps on hand for the front and good ones too it helps re position the axle so you can get the control arms in and then the coils will fall in place and have a high lift jack for dropping the coils out easier then the coil compressor. it is actually pretty easy just take your time and think about what you are doing

Well. My dads been a Chrysler mechanic for the last 20 years, so we will have a lift, and his knowledge. Hopefully that will help haha

If you do the transfer case drop, do one side at a time. It's a ***** to get lined back up if you take all of the bolts out at once.

And measure your springs to make sure you have the correct size. Rough Country accidentally sent me the coils from the 6.5 kit when I bought the 4.5. Caused headaches for a month before I figured it out.
