Not the coil overs you may have had in mind.
I use Monroe Load assist on the back, about 1/2" lift added or at least keep you level with some extra gear and big dog in the back.
I raised the lower shock mounts on the rear axle.
And pic of the Nitro chained and with coil overs at our north pole.
Bleepin Jeep Scorpion has a great suspension set up worth lookin at.

Coilovers on a full body XJ is a real challenge.

For the rear you need to 4 link it which is a project in and of itself. Then you need to figure out how to fit a 24-36" coilover to a XJ. Most go up thru the floor of the rear area but you need to enclose the area to keep the noise, dirt and water out of the interior. On a buggy or trail only rig this is less important and easier. Fabrication skills are a must. Cutting, welding, tube bending and the equipment to do all this.

For the front you need to cut out the inner fender and build a loop/top mount strong enough to take the abuse. And fit a 24-30" coilover and keep it under the hood.
