Default Leaving the XJ world !!!!!!!

Sad to say but I'm selling our 2000 XJ , we got a SUPER GREAT deal on a more economical ride for our twin 16 yr olds. Only had it for a year but spend many hours with my sons repairing and replacing things . The list is LONG on what I replaced but it's a great vehicle for the next owner.
This forum was a GREAT source of help and guidance for being a 1st time Jeep owner . For all those who helped me "Thank you"
If anyone is looking for a XJ , send them my way! I'm located in R.I.

What could be a better vehicle for your son's then one that you guys spent time together fixing? Xjs aren't worth too much. Just keep it man. Sounds like you put lots of time, effort, and money into it. Don't sell it.

Agreed. OP, they're great running vehicles for the money. With the new cars requiring computer techs more than mechanics, the value of pre-2000s vehicles is going to sky rocket. Hang onto it. There aren't many good running older vehicles out there.

I bought my XJ primarily to tow my sleds and ATV's and didn't really think much about it other than price and a decent reputation. After owning it for 6 years, I have to say that I'm going to be reluctant to give it up when I shop for my full size truck in a couple of years. These old beasts have character. They grow on ya!

while i totally agree with you, some people just don't see it that way and you can't blame them. i have friends that I try to teach how to do basic stuff on their cars, and at the same time have a great time together, but they simply don't have the interest and don't see it that way. so for someone that uses a car to go from point A to point B and doesn't see repairs the way we do ("cool now time to UPGRADE!!!"), an XJ is more for a burden than anything since it needs constant care.

Since it is a 2000 XJ, and assuming the 0331 original head is still on there, this is probably a good time to let it go.

Before it lets go on him and his sons.

Little did you know that when you bashed your knuckles while wrenching and shed a drop of blood, the eternal oath was signed.

One of us! One of us! Resistance is futile.

I'd thought of this after I posted but didn't want to waiver on my stance. All depends on what his sons are willing/wanting to do. My pop taught me to change oil. The rest was all ambition and YouTube videos. His sons probably want to play sports and chase girls though, not work on a finicky 4x4.

Well, they might not realize it yet but they're soooooo much better off working on a finicky 4x4 than chasing girls.... But as the old saying goes, if its got **** or tires it's gunna give you problems.

I give you a month and you will have another. Once you go XJ you won't go back.
Withdraws ...right hand reaching for 4 wheel drive shifter. Left hand grabbing steering wheel tight and saying hold my drink and watch this. These will set in 24 hours after letting her go. Lol Nah but good luck always family of the jeep nation
