Should I put heavy duty leaf springs on my cherokee?

Are you towing anything? Plan on putting a heavy bumper on the rear?

I tow occasionally. Have a frame hitch. Carry a tools in the back for work though

Do I need different shocks with heavier leaf springs?

You shouldn't if it's the same Hight.

Would a heavier spring make it ride higher? My stock leaf springs sit pretty flat

It would probably jack it up to stock. As long as you get stock Hight ones.

Take a few days and spray everything with PB Blast a couple times a day.
I think Advance Auto is having a sale on PB Blast. 2 for $7.
