Default Lack of Common Courtesy?

Maybe I'm wasting my time and making a big deal out of nothing but...

We all give advice in the context of the forum threads, and I don't expect every person posting a response in the context to get a personal "Thank You" from the OP, especially when there may be dozens of responses, many of which say essentially the same thing.

But what does kind of grind my gears is when someone sends you a PM, asking you for specific help and information, and you take the time to compose a thorough response... And then nothing. You never hear from then again. This has happened to me a number of times.

People, if you are going to ask for one-on-one assistance from a forum member, at least be decent enough to thank them for their time and effort on your behalf.

It's the LEAST you could do for the help you been given.

I'll get off my soapbox now...

This hasn't happened to me but if it did I would be pretty bent outa shape too. Common courtesy is becoming uncommon these days and I hate that!

Not quite as inconsiderate but equally irritating is when an op asks a question, gets several responses, and never lets anyone know if the issue has been resolved.

Agreed, it's sad how our society has changed.

Different situation but same topic....opening doors for people. For some reason it's one of those things that gets under my skin severely. You see someone approaching a door and hold it for 10 seconds while they head your way. This happened the other day with a 50ish year old gentleman. He took his precious time lollygagging around, which is fine. Looked right at me as he walked through the door and didn't say a word. This has happened more than usual lately it seems like, so I finally decided to give the guy a piece of my mind. I'm only 26 so I felt almost disrespectful saying some of those things to someone twice my age, but needless to say I felt much better after I was done.

I just don't understand the lack of common courtesy. Everyone has a major pet peeve, or several, and this just happens to be mine. Sorry for the long post!

I'm on board with you guys for the most part.

Especially the daily stuff.

I think CF is better than the rest of the world though.

Your correct, common courtesy has been forgotten or to some was never taught and do not know any better I guess.

I have very few of these as I prefer emails and not PM's and tell them so.

In my opinion, this is just what the Internet has done to society as a whole.

People treat people online as if they were just text messages and once they've been read, they move on.

This is the type of personal contact that is virtually eliminated from communication when you introduce technology to the mind of a person. A person doesn't see the need to thank a computer as much as they do a living breathing person.

In addition to not thanking people online, people also tend to blow off those needing help instead of attempting to assist a lot. But it's a vicious cycle because who wants to help those that don't thank?

Agreed and somehow when I don't get a response letting me know they got my answer I'm the one that starts worrying that maybe they didn't get my response for some reason and are now think I'm a jerk for not answering.

As for holding doors, most people would have to look up from their ***** phones to even notice you're holding it for them. Total lack of social skills.
