With an auto and 35s you'll probably want 4.88s. You should be at 4.56s right now with the 33s to put you back into your stock power band.

Id just build up your d30 a bit, and build an 8.8 rear.
8.8 would handle 35s easy. With a little beef the 30 will do fine as well.

The rear dana 44 is getting harder and harder to find. For the price and trouble of finding a rear xj 44 you might as well just buy a 29 spline 8.25. The 44 is marginally stronger, and the 8.25 can be had cheap, and are easy to find.

Guys can't seem to give away XJ 44 rears around my area.. There's one with 3.55's for $100 and another with 3.73 for $150. I'm considering picking one up just for the spare shafts.
