Default Jerry/Gerry can..

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here it goes. Has anyone mounted a jerry can inside their jeeps? I bought two, working on the third and want to mount at least one in the XJ. I bought a USMC jerry can mount and want to mount it inside, but not sure where it would fit best in the back. Would anyone have pictures of one mounted? It would come in handy in case the jeep or others on the trails run out of gas..Thanks..

What type of fuel can? The two best are Sceptor Milspec and the NATO/Wedco style. If it's the older US style with large round screw on cap.. dont do it.

Most leak liquid or vapors and interior storage is not a good idea.

It becoming a projectile or getting pierced in an accident could be an ugly situation as well.

Exactly, even in the military we were not allowed to carry fuel inside a vehicle. It had to be mounted on the outside of the vehicle or in a trailer.

Nates 4x4 has a swing-out rear tire carrier with spots for Jerry cans if you wanna go that route.

Thanks guys for the information. I was thinking that it wouldn't be a good idea to have gas inside the vehicle, but wasn't sure if the cans would have a seal safe enough to have inside the vehicle. I bought two cans off ebay along with a mount and was undecided on where to mount. I have seen bumpers with the can mount and they look nice just pricey like everything else jeep related. LOL!! I will figure something out.
