There is nothing like a jeep. The new ones make me sick though. Too big and just dont have the soul of an off roader like they used too. Just a shame. And who the hell ever thought a four door wrangler was a good idea. Even scramblers were two door and the were a ton longer than a cj. Just my two cents.

Ive seen some well built blazers and broncos that achieve things a jeep couldnt. But they are too big and not well balanced but they have so much potential with all that room but you also need dinero.
Now i originally wanted a yota. those are beast. My dad had an 85 pick up, which is the best year toyota made for the truck since it was the last year of the straight axle and better engine.
Man that thing didnt even need 4wd 85% of the time.
I personally jus wouldnt get anything with IFS. Not the same flex and articulation, and improves the chances of rolling over when crawling.

Regarding Landrover, the original post war design brief was for a multi purpose agricultural vehicle rather than for military applications (ie: Jeep).
The LR was specifically aimed at farmers to replace horses and tractors for ploughing as well as provide a power source for harvesting machinery (which in the 40s' were still powered in the main by steam traction engines in the UK). Additionally, the LR would allow the farmer to transport livestock and/or produce to market as well as providing a mode of transport not disimilar to a normal car.
Sadly, most of LRs output now is aimed at, and driven by, bejewelled harpies in the more expensive areas of London, for whom going "off-road" means parking on the grass verge by the road outside the tanning salon.
A friend of mine works at LR and he told me the only good thing to come out of LR in the last 10 years was a handful of fully functional, futuristic, monster wheeled creations used in the Judge Dredd movie with Sly Stallone.

I have a couple 2wd jeeps. My 1988 Comanche is 2wd with a L6. Truck rips! Have another Comanche that was 2wd, now being changed to 4x4. My CJ10a is/was 2wd with a t-case! T-case was locked in 4lo all the time.
Buddy of mine mom has a 95 Grand with 250k thats 2wd.

Yeah I kinda like the 4 door JK's too, as far as jeep imposters I think Suburbans and Durango's and the other fullsize SUV's that people try to wheel
