Thanks folks.... but i'm afraid it's time to leave. Selling the XJ. in the midst of all my travelling i came across my dream truck and wife says it's one or the other. I'm torn, or was till i decided i wanted my 73 K5 Blazer back. if you're interested in buying the XJ cheap let me know. been lots of helpful ppl here with some great insight and for those of you that won't be missed you weren't important anyways.

You do realize gas is going to reach $5 a gallon by July?

A old carbed v8? Better than a 6 cylinder? And Id imagine the k5 is lifted with bigger tires. And it probably weighs a whole lot more.

My dads k5 blazer 4" lift 35s and stock gears had a 350 in it. Got 6 MPG maybe 7 if he was easy on the throttle.

Even re gearing I don't see it getting any better than 10 MPG but dammit they look good

Not to mention with 30 gallon(or however big) it would cost nearly $150 to fillup and you would be doing this every 300 miles or so.

ok u guys got me there but my stepdads 88 bronco gets about 12 to 15 and he has no lift with 31's and that is a v8 and has a shift kit

Hate to see you go, but can understand. As a guy who's driven many trucks that have gotten around 5 mpg, I know you do it because you love it, not for the mpg. Good luck with the K5!

I'M BACK BEOTCHES!!! GOT THE K5 AND BEEN WORKING ON HER FOR A YEAR. NEVER HAD THE HEART TO SELL MY "DIRTY GOAT" RUNNING CLOSE TO 230,000 MILES AND STILL STRONG. LIL OVER HEATING ISSUE BUT HELL FIND AN XJ THAT DOESN'T
