It's a good thing you're at least wanting to be different, but when it negatively impacts basically everything you're shooting for it's not worth it.

I personally think 6.5 in on 35's is the best looking XJ out there. Higher doesn't mean better.

Good luck with your build though!

this is as pratical as it gets imo. 4.5 inch lift on 33 inch m/t. more then enough height and you can run 33's with out doing a re gear (its sluggish but it works fine for me) my xj with this set up has out wheeled rubicons on 35's and they have lockers. im open/open. heres a pic of my set up

it doesnt matter how tall it is. if you like it lifted to the moon then do it. it's your jeep
we're just saying it costs an arm and a leg to do it right. theres a guy on here with a 9" lift and it's really well set up (anyone have a link to that jeep with flames painted on it?)

then there's one or two others that are lifted really high and just look flat out dangerous...
if you want to do a tall lift prepare to do it right or prepare to get flamed and receive no help from anyone on here

Sweet xj if I do a 6.5 with 33s will I have to do a regear? I think I'm just going to start from 6.5 that's what everyone else is suggesting.

Lift height doesn't matter, it's your tire size and weight. It's doable, but you will lose a lot of highway power and have horrible gas mileage.

im not talking about wheeling on long island. ive been to rausch a few times. I don't waste my time wheeling on long island besides going to the beach

city mpg sucks. but highway isn't horrible. I drove from long island to rausch creek and used a little over a half a tank. but normal city/highway mixed driving I get about 200-230 per tank

33's will look to small on a 6.5 inch lift. id say just get a nice 4.5 inch kit. but hey its your jeep not mine. but i wouldn't run anything less then a 35 with a 6.5 inch kit and that means you have to re gear
