Now you just need to cut about a foot off the back of it.

For some reason I have a feeling that you're serious.

You don't seriously plan to tow a XJ with an MJ farther than a mile or two do you?

No, you can't be serious.

If you built it into a purpose built tow vehicle, it could probably be done. Good axles, make it heavy, and a real light trailer with good breaks........maybe it could work. Or maybe flat tow with it?

It'd need a different engine, major brakes, a massive solid slab of steel in the bed, tires with a large foot print, extremely stiff springs, excellent trailer brakes and controller and the XJ would need to be stock on a feather lite aluminum trailer. Even then I wouldn't haul it very far.

By the time you've done all of that you could have bought an early 90's full sized truck that works straight out of the box.

The only MJ around here is from Michigan and I rarely see him around. Its a beat down 2 wheel peel, with a bigger stack than my dad has on his Cummins! Lol
